- 115g/4oz/½ cup butter or margarine, at room temperature
- 65g/2½oz/5 tablespoon caster (superfine) sugar
- 25g/1oz/2 tablespoon soft dark brown sugar
- 2 eggs, at room temperature
- 215g/7½oz/scant 2 cups plain (all-purpose) flour
